"If you're an able-bodied person and you want to leave, this is the time to leave."

— Rural Fire Service, 4 January 2020

Batlow sits in the apple country of the Snowy Valleys — 725 metres above sea level, an hour west of the alps. In January 2020 the Dunns Road Fire crested the hills and the town held its breath for two days.

The town stayed. The country listened. A hashtag — Do It For Batlow — became a promise, and the promise became a charity. We pour every dollar raised back into the town and the people who refused to leave.

We are not a charity with a glass tower or a head office. We're a few locals, a P.O. box, a Facebook page, and a town worth fighting for.
